About Me

Hi! This is my first attempt at a blog and I wanted to document my journey of finding the best way for me to live. I used to be a fast food, diet coke, boxed mac n cheese, cheap beer junkie who loved to work out. I would exercise enough to only gain a few pounds a year. In August 2011, I took the job of Farmers Market & Community Programs Manager in Bentonville, Arkansas. I have a bachelors of science in Agricultural Education from the University of Arkansas and an MBA with a concentration in Leadership and Ethics from John Brown University. Taking the job of Farmers Market Manager was the best decision for my health because I got to learn from the vendors and attend many conferences. In 2013, I gained almost 15 pounds in three months due to an unknown thyroid disorder.

This is all leading up to deciding to eat only local meat to transitioning to a vegetarian diet. I want to live as one with this earth and do the least amount of harm as possible. I believe there is not one right answer but that we must do what is best for our self with respect to all beings. I also try to eat as locally and naturally as possible.

The second part of my journey is connecting more to nature. Two of my goals are hiking the Ozark Highland Trail and biking the Katy Trail. I also enjoy photography and have a long way to go to learn all the tricks of the trade.

Two lights in my life are my dogs. Keema is the most loving, sweet and kind German Shepherd who loves to hoard her toys and bones. Kora is a non stop, adventure seeking and needy Australian Cattle Dog who takes a long time to warm up to strangers but once you are in, your there for life. "They motivate us to play, be affectionate, seek adventure and be loyal" - Tom Hayden
